Geology
The Granite Wash is exactly what its name suggests: coarse arkosic debris shed off the uplifted Amarillo–Wichita mountain front during the Pennsylvanian and deposited as stacked submarine fan and alluvial wedges along the basin margin. Because it is proximal debris, reservoir quality changes quickly with distance from the uplift, and individual wash intervals are separately named and separately targeted.
